Poverty - December 2018

There is so much talk about love, joy and peace at this time of year, this is what we celebrate with the coming of Christ. These are the gifts he brought all those years ago and still brings today.

In John 17:18,20. Jesus prays to His Father saying... ‘As you have sent me into the world so I have sent them into the world. The glory you have given me, I have given them.’

When you stare in the face of poverty, it can seem hard to find love or joy or peace. Jesus is the only one who can truly supply any of this. He sends us into the world with the same mission He had, we carry His glory, His Holy Spirit. We have been anointed, to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed, go free and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. As we go into 2019, let’s remember who we are and what we have been asked to do. Let’s pray for breakthrough throughout the world, to see change where corruption sustains poverty and oppression. Let’s be present in each moment, alive with compassion and live out our calling as children of God.
